Dukes Place Second at George Mason Invite

RESULTS

LEESBURG, Va. - The Duquesne women's cross country team posted a second-place showing at the 2017 George Mason Invitational on Saturday morning at the Oatlands Plantation. The Dukes finished with 44 points at the meet, just one fewer than invitational champion St. Joseph's.

Duquesne bested the host Patriots (54) who finished third, as well as another Atlantic 10 foe in sixth-place George Washington (154).

Junior Elizabeth Morris (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks East) paced the Dukes with a third-place finish, crossing the finish line of the 6k course in 22:34.4. Right behind Morris was senior Jenny DelSignore (Tonawanda, N.Y./Sweet Home) in fourth with a time of 22:35.0.

Sophomore Megan Aller (New Kensington, Pa./Kiski Area) finished 10th with a mark of 22:59.8, followed by classmate Morgan Perkins (Erie, Pa./Mercyhurst Prep) in 13th at 23:15.0 and freshman Tessa Franchi (Gibsonia, Pa./Pine-Richland) 15th at 23:20.9.

Duquesne returns to action next Saturday, Oct. 7 at the Carnegie Mellon Invitational at the Schenley Oval.
