Sept. 19, 2017 2017-18 Duquesne Bowling Schedule
PITTSBURGH - Trips to New Orleans and Houston highlight the 2017-18 bowling schedule released by head coach Jody Fetterhoff today. The second-year Duquesne program will travel to a minimum of six states to compete in 11 regular-season tournaments including a pair of Northeast Conference matches.
The Dukes open the 2017-18 season with an appearance at the KU Fall Team/Baker Invite at Berks Lanes in Reading, Pa. on October 14 & 15.
DU will conclude the month of October in Louisiana when it heads to New Orleans for the Tulane Invitational on the 20th through 22nd.
"Being able to compete in events across the country not only provides top competition, but also provides exposure for our program as we continue to grow," said Fetterhoff, whose 2016-17 Dukes finished the season as one of two teams receiving points in the final National Tenpin Coaches Association Top 25.
DU will complete in three events in November including the Virginia Union Invitational in Midlothian, Va. on Nov. 3-5, the Roto Grip Raider Classic (USBC) on Nov. 12-13 in Dayton, Ohio and the BGSU Falcon Classic (USBC) on Nov. 18 in Rossford, Ohio.
Duquense's lone December event will be the first of two NEC meets on December 2-3 at Sims Lanes in Beaver Falls, Pa. DU will co-host the two-day event with Saint Francis U.
"We are very excited to be co-hosting the first NEC meet in Beaver Falls," said Fetterhoff. "It will be nice to be close enough so that people can come watch our team compete for the first time."
The new year will see Duquesne travel back to Reading, Pa. for the KU Invitational on January 19-21, before heading to Altoona, Pa. for the Red Flash Invitational hosted by Saint Francis U on Jan. 26-28.
The Dukes will defend their title at the Golden Bear Classic in Reading on Feb. 9-11, before heading to Houston for the SFA Jacks Invitational on Feb. 16-18.
Duquesne concludes the regular season with the second NEC Meet on Feb. 23-25 in Farmingdale, N.Y.
USBC Sectionals will take place on March 9-11 at a to be determined site, followed by the NEC Championship on March 23-25 in Howell, N.J. The NEC champion will be an automatic qualifier for the NCAA Championship scheduled for April 12-14.
"We are looking forward to competing this season," said Fetterhoff of the Dukes, who posted 12 wins over ranked teams in their inaugural season. "We have a year of experience, which is invaluable. In addition, we have a talented group of freshmen who will give us more depth in 2017-18."
