200 yard Medley Relay: 1st place (1:41.23)
800 yard Freestyle Relay: 2nd place (7:19.43)
QUICK RECAP: The Duquesne swimming team opened the 2017 A-10 Championship Wednesday afternoon, competing in two events for the day. Both performances by Duquesne broke program records in the 200 yard Medley Relay and 800 yard Freestyle Relay.
In the first event, the relay team of Abby Watson, Kayla Owens, Kristen McKnight and Michelle Heim (1:41.23) pulled away with a first place victory for the Dukes in the 200 yard Medley Relay. Richmond and Davidson would follow, taking second and third place.
In the 800 yard Freestyle Relay, the team of Lexi Santer, Lauren Devorace, Carson Gross and and Sydnee Karam (7:19.43) took second place, behind Davidson.
COACH SHEETS QUOTE: "This was a good way to start the meet. The next three days will be tough so we have to focus on getting ready for tomorrow and continue to manage our emotions and take it one race and one day at a time."
UP NEXT: The Dukes return to action for Day 2 of the A-10 Championships Thursday, with prelims beginning at 10 a.m. and finals set for 6:30 p.m.
