Trio Leads @DuqWBB Over Richmond 73-61

PITTSBURGH - A trio of Dukes - Amadea Szamosi, Chassidy Omogrosso, Julijana Vojinovic - scored 17 points to help Duquesne to a 73-61 win over Richmond Wednesday night at the Palumbo Center.

Szamosi and Vojinovic had double-doubles for the night, each recording 10 rebounds.

Janelle Hubbard scored a game-high 20 points and Ragan Wiseman added 17 points for Richmond.

With the win, the Dukes improve to 11-11, 4-5 A-10 and Richmond falls to 9-12, 3-5 A-10.

FIRST QUARTER:
Richmond's Micaela Parson opened the quarter with a basket at the 9:05 mark, and the score remained close with two ties and one lead change occurring. The Spiders would end with a five point advantage, at 18-13, from a Ragan Wiseman 3-pointer.

SECOND QUARTER:
Back-to-back 3-pointers from Szamosi and Vojinovic helped the Dukes tie the score at 21-21 with 8:21 remaining. However, Richmond would regain the lead with a Hubbard jumper at the 7:28 mark--until Vojinovic's 3-pointer with 3:47 to go gave Duquesne its first advantage of the quarter, at 29-28. Another tie would occur with 1:01 remaining, but the Dukes would head into halftime up 36-33.

THIRD QUARTER:
Szamosi led the way with six points and four rebounds for the quarter, as the Dukes extended their lead to as much as 11 points, outscoring Richmond 16-10. A pair of free throws by Ragan Wiseman would cut Richmond's deficit to nine at 52-43 to end the quarter.

FOURTH QUARTER:
Richmond would cut Duquesne's lead to six at 54-48 at the 7:38 mark, however that would be as close as they would get to tying it for the remainder of the game. The Dukes saw their largest lead of the night at 13 with 1:23 to go when a pair of Vojinovic foul shots brought the score to 68-55.

UP NEXT:
The Dukes travel to George Washington (13-6, 6-1) on Sunday, the game will be televised nationally on ASN with tipoff set for 5 p.m.

GAME NOTES

  • Omogrosso recorded her 600th career point
  • Szamosi surpassed Kelly Eberhardt and Gail Wilkins to move into the 20th spot on the all-time scoring list with 1,086 career points
  • Vojinovic's 10 rebounds were a career-high
  • Szamosi played a career-high 39 minutes
  • This is the first time since Duquesne's win over Seton Hall in the 2016 NCAA Tournament that two Dukes have recorded a double-double
  • Duquesne has now won six straight over Richmond
