The Duquesne University lacrosse team scored four straight goals to end the first half, but could not find the net in the second frame, suffering a 9-4 loss at Michigan Sunday afternoon. The Dukes fell to 4-4 on the season while the Wolverines improved to 5-5.
UM opened the contest by scoring three goals in the first 3:01 for a 3-0 lead. The Red and Blue regrouped however and tallied the final four scores of the half for a 4-3 lead at the intermission. DU would not score again though and surrendered six Michigan goals for the final score.
Jill Vacanti scored twice while Kaelin Shaw added a goal and an assist. Jenna Bishop posted nine saves and had four ground balls as UM outshot the Dukes, 22-9.
Duquesne returns to action on Saturday, March 26 as it hosts UMBC at 11:00 am on Rooney Field.
