QUICK NOTES
Duquesne, off to its best start since 2007-08 at 6-1, faces Pitt (4-1) in the annual City Game at CONSOL Energy Center on Friday, Dec. 4. The 84th meeting between the schools, set for a 7:05 p.m. tip, will be televised nationally by CBSSN (Jason Knapp & Mo Cassara). The Dukes are coming off a 91-77 win over Mississippi Valley State on Tuesday. Pitt fell to #11 (AP) Purdue, 72-59, at home also on Tuesday night.
The last time the Dukes took a 6-1 record into the City Game was on Dec. 5, 2007 at Palumbo Center. In that game, the No. 12 (AP) Panthers (7-0 at the time), got a floater in the lane from Levance Fields with 1:04 left and a pair of Fields free throws with 33 seconds to go to seal a 73-68 win. DU trailed 63-62 with 1:47 left.
The Dukes are 4-0 at home, including a 78-52 win over Penn State at CONSOL Energy Center on Nov. 20. The City Game is technically a neutral-site game with Duquesne the designated home team this season. DU is 2-1 in neutral-site games this year, with a loss to Pepperdine followed by wins over Milwaukee (OT) and Western Kentucky at the Gulf Coast Showcase in Estero, Fla. on Nov. 23-25.
NEXT UP: Duquesne hosts UMBC at the Palumbo Center on Tuesday, Dec. 8 at 7:00 p.m.
