Results

Duquesne's swimming team headed west to face Oakland University and fell to the Grizzlies, 172-102 Friday evening in Rochester, Mich.

Junior Hallie McCue led the Dukes by finishing first in the 50-yard backstroke in 27.54 and second in the 100 back in 58.04. Freshman Kristen McKnight turned in two second place showings, touching behind the Grizzlies in the 50 freestyle in 24.44 and the 50 butterfly in 26.18.

Also turning in second place finishes were senior Samantha Ray in the 200 free in 1:54.43 and sophomore Kayla Owens in the 100 breaststroke in 1:05.57.

The 200 free relay of Ray, McKnight, Owens and sophomore Gabrielle Sibilia ended the meet by winning in 1:36.69.

"Not the way we wanted to start the weekend. We had some good swims but we were not consistent through our depth. Our mental mistakes got the best of us," said head coach David Sheets. "The bus ride was tough but we can't make excuses for not swimming the way we are capable of. We will get some rest tonight and make sure we do better against Toledo."

The Dukes return to action on Saturday, Nov. 7 as they travel to Toledo for a 1:00 pm meet.
