Nov. 4, 2015 Duquesne's swimming team raised $4,000 for the American Cancer Society of Pittsburgh from its "Think Pink" efforts which culminated with a meet versus Youngstown State. This brings the team's five-year total to $20,000 raised and donated to local cancer societies in Pittsburgh and Johnstown.
"Coaching women, and knowing the facts and figures of how breast cancer affects women makes this cause very important," said head coach David Sheets. "For our program, the month of October is also about overall cancer awareness. Our entire swimming family was affected a few years ago when one of our own swimmers was diagnosed with Leukemia. Thanks to advances and funding for research our swimmer was able to overcome those obstacles and continues to be cancer free today."
