QUICK NOTES
• Duquesne, off to a 5-1 start, returns from a brief Thanksgiving break to host Mississippi Valley State (0-7) on Tuesday, Dec. 1 at 7:00 p.m. at Palumbo Center. DU is off to its best start under fourth-year head coach Jim Ferry and best by the program since 2009-10. The last Duquesne team to open 6-1 was the 2007-08 Dukes who finished 17-13.
• Mississippi Valley State, which has yet to play a home game this season, is coming off a pair of losses over the weekend in an Air Force Classic sub-regional hosted by Tennessee Tech. The Delta Devils dropped a 67-64 decision to Robert Morris on Saturday and fell to host Tennessee Tech, 101-64, on Sunday afternoon.
• This is the first meeting between DU and MVSU.
• The Dukes, who are 3-0 at home, went 2-1 in winning the consolation bracket of the Gulf Coast Showcase at Estero, Fla. Nov. 23-25. Senior guard Derrick Colter, who averaged 22.3 ppg. in DU's three games, was named to the five-man All-Tournament Team of the eight-team tournament. DU lost the opener to Pepperdine (70-84) before rallying to defeat Milwaukee (96-92 in OT) and Western Kentucky (81-73) for fifth place.

• This is the first meeting between the Dukes and Delta Devils of the Southwestern Athletic Conference ... Mississippi Valley State is located in Itta Bena, Miss. ... MVSU, which is off to an 0-7 start, has yet to play at home, having already traveled to Lincoln, Neb., Denver, Las Cruces, N.M., Phoenix, Provo, Utah and Cookeville, Tenn.
• MVSU is coming off back-to-back losses against Robert Morris (64-67) and host Tennessee Tech (64-101) as part of the Air Force Classic pod at Cookeville, Tenn.
• MVSU finished 6-26 last season against a schedule that included games at Indiana, Iowa State, Oregon State, Northwestern, Mississippi State and TCU among others ... the Delta Devils did not play a single non-conference home game ... played a total of 20 road games (2-18).
