Women's Cross Country Places Second at Atlantic 10 Championship

The Duquesne women's cross country team placed second in the Atlantic 10 Conference Championships Saturday morning at Pole Green Park in Mechanicsville, VA. The two-time defending A-10 champion Duquesne team trailed first place Richmond by one point, finishing with 88 team points.

Sophomore Jenny DelSignore finished first for the Dukes and sixth overall with a time of 17:30.6. Junior Valerie Palermo took ninth place, second for the Red & Blue in 17:38.2.

Next to cross the line was senior Jenna Gigliotti in 17:42.2, good for 13th overall. Next was junior Autumn Greba in 26th place at the 18:06.6 mark. Senior Hanna Scipio finished 34th in 18:16.2.

The 14 A-10 teams competed among a total of 129 runners. Trailing the Dukes by 23 points in third and fourth place were La Salle and UMass, with the teams tying at a total of 111 points apiece.

Duquesne will race in Princeton, NJ on November 13th for the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional.
