QUICK RECAP: Colin Phillips scored twice as Duquesne extended its unbeaten streak to three games with a 3-0 win over St. Bonaventure on Rooney Field. The win - DU's first at home this season - upped the Dukes' Atlantic 10 record to 3-2-1 (5-8-2 overall). The loss dropped St. Bonaventure to 2-14-1 overall and 1-5 in conference play. Duquesne controlled play the majority of the night, outshooting the Bonnies 20-9. Phillips got the Dukes on the board in the 19th minute when he took a pass from Brandon Walbert off a set piece and rifled a shot to the short right side from 14 yards out. Three minutes later, Bryan Fegley put away a loose ball from point blank range to make it 2-0. Chris Alescio set up the score with a cross from the left side that SBU keeper Luke Iacobellis got a piece of while colliding with a hard-charging Bendik Hellstroem. The ball popped out to Fegley who quickly found the net. Iacobellis was injured on the play and was replaced in goal by starting midfielder Breno Calegari - who had not played in goal all season. Phillips capped the scoring when he lofted a shot from nearly 40 yards out to the top left corner of the goal over the outstretched hands of the 5-8 Calegari in the 57th minute. It was the fourth two-goal game this year for Phillips who now has a team-high 10. Phillips' goal total is the fourth-highest single season mark in school history and most by a Duke since Joshua Patterson scored 11 times in 2012. Duquesne goalkeeper Sam Frymier had three saves in posting his fourth shutout of the season and second in his last three games.
DUQUESNE HEAD COACH Chase Brooks: "The team hasn't lacked any belief all year, its just been about finally putting together that performance that we needed. They've always believed in themselves. It was about finally getting that result which came tonight. Tonight it finally clicked."
BROOKS ON THE PLAY OF Colin Phillips: "Colin has been there for us all season long. As an upperclassman, he has been extremely valuable to the younger players on the team. He has provided great leadership and has been having just a great senior season."
