QUICK RECAP: Jannik Loebe scored twice within a seven minute span of the second half to give Fordham a 2-1 win over Duquesne on Rooney Field. Loebe's first goal came one minute after Colin Phillips gave the Dukes a 1-0 lead. The win upped Fordham's record to 5-4-3 overall and 3-0 in the Atlantic 10. Duquesne fell to 3-7-1 overall and 1-1 in conference play. Duquesne broke the ice when Chris Alescio headed the ball forward to Fredrik Borenstein who passed it back to Phillips who drilled a shot to the left side from 16 yards out in the 57th minute. The goal was Phillips third in his past two games and team-high seventh of the season. Jannik Loube answered when he took a ball from Kyle Bitterman, who passed it from near his own end line, and put it by Dukes keeper Evan Kozlowski. Bitterman's pass barely slid through a pair of converging players to reach Loube, who was centered in front of the goal at the top of the box. Jannik Loube's second goal came off a through ball from Andrew Hickey that gave him the space to beat Kozlowski from inside the box. Duquesne played from the 11th minute on a man down, after a red card was assessed to freshman defender Peace Drevitch. Fordham finished with three more shots than Duquesne (18-15), but the Dukes had two more shots on goal (5-3). Fordham had eight corners to four for Duquesne. Phillips had the Dukes' best scoring chance in an even first half when he chipped a shot from 40 yards out that sailed just over the crossbar in the 31st minute. Fordham's Janos Loebe had a low liner from 15 yards out stopped by Kozlowski in the 32nd minute. The Rams had a free kick from 23 yards out just over two minutes later, but the ball was stopped by Duquesne's wall. Fordham had eight shots to seven for Duquesne and DU led 2-1 in shots on goal in the opening 45 minutes. DU's best chance late came when Alescio shot wide right with just over one minute left.

DUQUESNE HEAD COACH Chase Brooks: "I thought we battled hard. Going a man down so early in the game did not help us. Anytime you're battling against the defending Atlantic 10 champs, you obviously don't want to shoot yourself in the foot. I thought the guys responded extremely well. We left it all on the field, but at the end of the day it just wasn't meant to be for us tonight. We need to re-focus and get back after it. It just makes our game at VCU next weekend that much more important for us."

NEXT UP: The Dukes conclude the non-conference portion of the schedule at Michigan on Tuesday, October 13 at 7:30 p.m. The game will be televised as part of the Big Ten Plus Network (BTN Plus). A subscription is required to view the game. BTN Plus
