Duquesne's lacrosse team is scheduled to open its 2014 slate on Wednesday, Feb. 19 as the Dukes host Howard at 4:00 pm on Rooney Field.
The Red and Blue, who are coming off a 2013 season in which they went 11-7 and 5-2 in Atlantic 10 play, return six of their top seven scorers from last season, including seniors Haley Marafioti (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua Academy and Caitlin Prince (Sykesville, Md./Liberty). The Red and Blue also return reigning A-10 Midfielder of the Year and top scorer Amanda Kidder (Fairport, N.Y./Victor) and reigning conference Rookie of the Year Lib Lowry (Wayne, Pa./Radnor).
Reigning A-10 Defensive Player of the Year Kristen Gregory (Chester Springs, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) will be back in the cage for the Dukes in 2014. Gregory allowed just 9.52 goals per game last season, making 137 saves and posting a .437 save percentage.
