Duquesne's swimming team won it's first dual meet of the season, defeating visiting St. Francis, 156-98 Friday evening at Towers Pool.
The Dukes won 10 of the 14 races, led by Claire Nobles and Samantha Ray, who each won twice.
The meet opened with Duquesne's 400-yard medley relay taking first and second place to secure a 15-2 lead that the Dukes would never relinquish. St. Francis responded by winning the 1,000-freestyle, but Nobles would go on to win the 200 free in 1:57.11 before Abby Watson would win the 50 backstroke in 28.11.
The Red and Blue placed second and third in 50 breaststroke, then rattled off five straight wins to take a commanding lead. Posting victories during that stretch were Lexi Santer (59.75 in the 100 butterfly), Ray (24.85 in the 50 free), Nobles (54.03) in the 100 free, Morgan Fink (1:00.03 in the 100 back) and Kayla Owens (1:07.48 in the 100 breaststroke).
SFU won the 500 free to end the DU surge, but the Dukes went on to go 1-2-3 in the 50 fly and won the event-ending 200 free relay in 1:38.71 to end the meet.
The Dukes return to action on Saturday, Nov. 1 as the face La Salle and St. Bonaventure at SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio.
