After winning a one-goal contest at home on Wednesday versus Canisius, the Duquesne lacrosse team dropped a 17-16 overtime decision at Lafayette Saturday evening.
Caitlin Prince led all scorers with six goals, followed by Haley Marafioti with five and Clare Hurley with four.
Trailing most of the game, Duquesne's Amanda Kidder scored a goal with 9:21 remaining to even the game at 14-14. Lafayette scored next at the 5:26 mark before Marafioti scored the final goal in regulation with 1:34 left to send it into overtime.
Prince scored with 4:55 left in OT to give the Dukes their first lead since the 22:04 mark of the first half before Lafayette scored off a rebound at the buzzer to send the game into a sudden-victory situation which LU would win on a free-position shot.
Liz Walker made 11 stops in the game while Elise Caldwell had two assists. Amanda Kidder had the only other DU goal.
The Dukes return home on Wednesday, March 14 as they host cross-town foe Robert Morris at 7:00 pm on Rooney Field.
