• Duquesne (12-9, 3-4), coming off back-to-back losses at Saint Louis and at home to La Salle, heads West to face a Dayton (14-7, 4-3) team that is in the midst of a two-game losing streak of its own, on Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m. (game will be televised in the UD viewing area by WHIO-TV) ... neither DU or UD has lost three in a row this season.

• Six of DU's first seven conference games have been against RPI Top 100 schools (Rhode Island is the only A-10 opponent that was not in the Top 100) ... Dayton is the seventh.

• The Dukes came back from seven points down with 2:11 left to tie it on a Jerry Jones put back with 1:23 to go only to see La Salle's Ramon Galloway convert a three-point play on La Salle's next possession in the 71-68 loss to La Salle ... Jones had a potential game-tying 3-point attempt blocked with two seconds left ... T.J. McConnell and Sean Johnson led DU with 19 and 16 points respectively.

• Dayton leads the series 44-21, including a 26-5 record in games at UD ... DU has won once and lost in overtime in two of its three trips to UD Arena under sixth-year DU head coach Ron Everhart ... Everhart is 5-4 against the Flyers ... Dayton, which is 10-3 at home, is coming off an 86-81 home loss to Rhode Island (4-18, 1-6).

• Duquesne is 2-5 on the road including a 1-2 mark in A-10 games away from home (78-71 win at Rhode Island) ... earlier this season, DU ended George Mason's 18-game home win streak with a 75-64 win in Fairfax, Va.

• The Dukes, who led the nation is assists (17.8), steals (9.9) and turnover margin (+6.7) last year are averaging 16.0 assists and 8.2 steals ... DU began the week ranked third in NCAA Division I in turnover margin (+5.8) behind Syracuse and Ohio State.

• DU, which has started eight lineups in the past 13 games, has had its roster intact for two conference games (with an asterisk at Rhode Island & vs. La Salle) ... the URI game was B.J. Monteiro's first after having 25 stitches removed from his left hand (Monteiro played for the first time without the hand heavily taped on Saturday vs. La Salle) ... Andre Marhold suffered a head injury during the URI game and missed games vs. UMass and at Saint Louis before making his return against La Salle.

• Ten players have started at least once and nine are averaging double-digit minutes ... T.J. McConnell is the only player to start every game this season.

• McConnell leads the A-10 in steals (2.9 spg.) and 3-point pct. (.500), is tied for second in assist/turnover ratio (2.0-to-1) and ranks third in assists (5.8 apg.) ... his 2.9 steals per game average began the week ranked second nationally ... McConnell is one of nine D-1 players with a triple-double this season (15-10-11a vs. University of the District of Columbia on Nov. 18) ... it was the second triple-double in school history (Shawn James went 17-11-10b vs. Saint Joe's on Feb. 6, 2008) ... he has come close on two other occasions this season with 13 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists vs. St. Bonaventure and 16 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists at Rhode Island.

• DU returns home to face Richmond on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. The Richmond game, which will be nationally televised by ESPNU, is the third annual Chuck Cooper Classic presented by PNC. The Classic honors the legacy of alumnus Chuck Cooper, the first African-American drafted by an NBA team The Dukes will be wearing red throwback jerseys modeled after those worn by Cooper and his teammates in the late 1940s and 1950s. In addition, fans will receive a commemorative Chuck Cooper T-shirt compliments of UPMC Health Plan, UPMC Sports Medicine and Trib Total Media. Fewer than 700 tickets remained as of Monday morning.

THE SERIES: Dayton leads the overall series 44-21 including a 22-7 lead in Atlantic 10 regular season games and a 26-5 advantage in games played at Dayton ... DU is 2-4 in its past six games at University of Dayton Arena (including a 78-72 OT loss in 2010 and 64-63 defeat last year) ... Dayton had won 18 of 19 meetings before Duquesne's 93-89 win at Pittsburgh in 2007 - current head coach Ron Everhart's first game vs. the Flyers ... Duquesne made it back-to-back wins over UD for just the third time in the then 61-game series with a 63-61 win at UD Arena four years ago ... Dayton returned the favor with a regular-season sweep in 2009, however the Dukes gained a measure of revenge with a 77-66 win over the third-seeded Flyers in the semifinal of the 2009 Atlantic 10 Championship at Atlantic City, N.J. ... the two have split home wins in each of the past two seasons ... DU took the first last year by an 82-64 score at CONSOL Energy Center ... the 18-point margin of victory was DU's largest in the series since a 91-67 home win (+24) on Jan. 19, 1976 ... UD won the return match at Dayton, 64-63, 20 days later ... sixth-year DU head coach Ron Everhart is 5-4 versus the Flyers.

FLYERS THIS YEAR: Dayton (14-7, 4-3), picked to finish sixth in the preseason poll of Atlantic 10 coaches and media, is 10-3 at home with noteworthy wins over Alabama, Mississippi, Saint Louis and Xavier ... first-year Southern Illinois transfer junior Kevin Dillard 12.5, 130 assists, 35 steals) has led the way for the Flyers ... Dillard, Mr. Illinois Basketball in 2008, was named MVP of the 2011 Old Spice Classic after averaging 15.3 ppg. in UD wins over Wake Forest, Fairfield and Minnesota ... 6-6 senior forward Chris Johnson (10.9), a preseason second team All-A-10 pick, is closing in on the 1,300 career point mark ... 6-9, 250-pound junior F/C Matt Kavanaugh has thrived under first-year head coach Archie Miller ... Kavanaugh, who averaged 1.9 ppg. in 32 games last year, brings a 9.1 ppg. average into Wednesday's game ... UD is coming off an 86-81 home loss to Rhode Island on Saturday.

LA SALLE LEFTOVERS: Notes from Duquesne's 71-68 loss to La Salle at the Palumbo Center on Saturday ... the defeat ended a three-game DU series win streak ... the Dukes, who led by nine in the second half, rallied from a seven-point deficit with 2:26 left to tie it on a Jerry Jones put back just over a minute later ... Jones had a 3-point attempt blocked with two seconds left ... there were three ties and six lead changes in the second half ... T.J. McConnell and Sean Johnson led DU with 19 and 16 points respectively ... the two (3-of-4 apiece) went 6-of-8 from the arc ... the rest of the team combined to go 1-of-13 ... La Salle shot 54.8 percent in the second half and 51.9 percent for the game ... DU finished at 41.4 percent ... B.J. Monteiro handed out a career-high six assists ... it was the first time DU started a lineup of Monteiro, Andre Marhold, Johnson, Eric Evans and McConnell - a group that has started a season-high 11 tiems - since at Western Michigan on Dec. 17 ... second-leading rebounder Andre Marhold made his return after missing the two previous games with a head injury.

Senior Eric Evans has played in 109 career games with 55 starts ... he enters the Dayton game with 962 career points and 287 assists ... has 57 assists and 24 turnovers (2.4-to-1 ratio) this season ... has had two or fewer turnovers in all but one game this season ... has scored in double digits in 13 of 21 games ...
