Duquesne University lacrosse players Katie Rekart (Ellicott City, Md./Mt. Hebron) and Caitlin Prince (Sykesville, Md./Liberty) received Atlantic 10 weekly honors for the week ending April 25. Walker was named the league's Player of the Week and Prince was tabbed the conference Rookie of the Week for the second time.
Rekart tallied her team-leading and A-10 best fourth game-winning goal this past weekend in leading Duquesne to a 2-0 week and a berth in the A-10 Lacrosse Championships. The senior attacker recorded nine points on six goals and three assists as the Dukes recorded wins over St. Bonaventure and Fresno State. She also added five draw controls, two groundballs and two caused turnovers to pace Duquesne. In a must win game for the Dukes, Rekart tallied two goals and an assist against the Bonnies as Duquesne prevailed 12-10 to clinch a spot in the upcoming conference championship. Against Fresno State, she posted four goals and two assists, marking the 11th time this season that Rekart has scored three or more goals in a game.
Prince closed out the regular season with six points on five goals and an assist to lead Duquesne to a perfect 2-0 week posting wins over St. Bonaventure and Fresno State. The freshman midfielder opened the week recording a hat trick on seven shots in a win over the Bonnies. She also added four draw controls and a caused turnover. Against Fresno State, Prince tallied two goals and an assist, while posting four groundballs and a draw control. She enters the A-10 Championships having recorded three straight multiple goal games.
The Red and Blue will face nationally-ranked Massachusetts on Friday at 3:30 p.m. in the semifinals of the Atlantic 10 Championship in Philadelphia.
