Duquesne University lacrosse players Liz Walker (Sewickley, Pa./Quaker Valley) and Caitlin Prince (Sykesville, Md./Liberty) received Atlantic 10 weekly honors for the week ending March 27. Walker was named the league's Defensive Player of the Week and Prince was tabbed the conference Rookie of the Week.
Walker posted a .543 save percentage and tallied over 175 minutes in goal as the Dukes went 2-1 last week. The junior goalkeeper made a career-high 12 saves while facing 25 shots in leading Duquesne to a 15-9 victory over Bucknell on Tuesday. She followed that performance allowing just four goals on 13 shots as the Dukes defeated Cincinnati 15-6 on Thursday. She closed out the week with six more saves as Duquesne dropped a one-goal contest at Canisius on Sunday. Walker also collected nine groundballs for the week, including a Duquesne season-high five at Canisius, while recording three caused turnovers.
Prince started all three games for Duquesne while tallying seven goals on 14 shots last week. The freshman midfielder scored a career-high and Duquesne season-high six goals, including the game-winner, in the win over Bucknell. Prince also scored a goal on her only shot in the Dukes' victory over Cincinnati. She added three groundballs, five draw controls and a caused turnover as Duquesne went 2-1 last week. For the season, Prince ranks fourth on the team in scoring with 18 points on 15 goals and three assists.
The Red and Blue return to action on Friday, April 1 as they travel to Richmond for their Atlantic 10 opener at 7:00 p.m.
