PITTSBURGH - Duquesne senior Bill Clark (Redondo Beach, Calif./Worcester Academy) is one of eight players named to the CollegeInsider.com 2011 Riley Wallace All-America team announced today.
The Riley Wallace All-America team consists of eight seniors who have been a major part of their team's success by contributing in all phases of the game throughout their careers. The team, named after the former 20-year head coach at the University of Hawaii, highlights players that have excelled without a lot of national attention.
"I'm honored that CollegeInsider.com would establish this All-America Team in my name," said Wallace. "I coached a lot of great players that possessed the qualities that this team has. It's a great group of players."
Leadership, clutch play and production in all phases of the game were taken into account in the selection of the team.
Clark, Duquesne's leading scorer at 16.3 ppg., ranks eighth on DU's all-time scoring list with 1,596 points. His 222 career 3-pointers rank third all-time and his 124 career games played are one behind school record holder - and current teammate - Damian Saunders.
This is the third postseason award for Clark who was named NABC First Team All-District 2 and Second Team All-Atlantic 10 in the past week.
Duquesne, which had one winning season in the 21 years prior to the arrival of the 2011 senior class, is making its third consecutive postseason appearance Wednesday night at Montana in the First Round of the College Basketball Invitational presented by Zebra Pen.
This is the first time since 1968-71 that DU has made three-straight postseason appearances.
