Dukes Wrap Up Day One at Akron Invitational

Duquesne's swimming team wrapped up day one of the three-day Akron Invitational Friday evening, accumulating 89.5 points through three individual events and two relays.

After a morning of preliminaries, the evening opened with the 200-yard free relay of Katy Hare, Kristi Magee, Line Lovberg and Erin Cawley taking ninth place of 28 teams with a season-best time of 1:37.39.

Following that, Christine Rosebaugh placed 32nd of 69 swimmers in the 500 freestyle in 5:13.76.

Next up was the 200 IM where Line Lovberg captured fourth place of 76 competitors with a Duquesne season-best time of 2:05.45.

The evening ended with Hare capturing team points in the 50 free in 18th place of 102 swimmers with a Duquesne season-best time of 24.39 and the 400 medley relay team finishing 22nd in 4:04.94.

The Dukes were without Miriam McGeath and Meghan Smith who are competing at the U.S. Nationals in Atlanta, Ga.

Day two of the Zippy Invite will commence Saturday with preliminaries at 9:00 am and finals at 6:00 pm.
