2010 Schedule
PITTSBURGH - Duquesne volleyball head coach Steve Opperman will participate in four tournaments and face a pair of NCAA Tournament teams as part of their 31-match 2010 schedule released today.
The season begins Labor Day weekend as the Dukes, along with Robert Morris University, host the Duquesne/Robert Morris Invitational. DU will play four games in two days beginning Aug. 27 with a pair of matches against Lehigh and Morgan State. The following morning, Duquesne will face Radford and will close out the evening against Montana State.
Sept. 3-4 Duquesne will be in Madison, Wisc. for the Inntowner Invitational. They play one match on the first night against the host team Wisconsin and will face Loyola, Ill. and Chicago Statere on the final day of the event.
DU will head up Route 22 to Loretto, Pa. on Sept. 7 when they visit Saint Francis, Pa.
Duquesne's next trip will be to West Lafayette, Ind. for the Active Ankle Challenge on Sept. 10-11. DU will face the host team Purdue on opening night. The next day, the Dukes will face Belmont in their first game and host Connecticut in their second game.
Cross-town rival Robert Morris will come to the Palumbo Center on Sept. 14.
The final tournament of the season is at Kent State Sept. 17-18. DU plays one match the first day against the host Golden Flashes. The Dukes will take on Syracuse and Louisiana-Monroe on the tournament's final day.
The Atlantic 10 Conference season begins Sept. 24, when the Dukes host Xavier. On Sept. 26, DU will face Dayton, who advanced to the second round of the NCAA Championship last season.
The first A-10 road trip will be Oct. 1-2 when Duquesne visits George Washington and Charlotte respectively.
The Dukes return home for a three-match home stand when they play Fordham on Oct. 15, Rhode Island Oct. 17 and a non-conference match against West Virginia Oct. 19.
Philadelphia is the next stop for DU, with matches at La Salle Oct. 22 and Temple Oct. 23.
DU is back home for a pair of matches versus NCAA Tournament participant Saint Louis on Oct. 26 and Temple Oct. 29.
The final road trip of the season is at Rhode Island Oct. 31 followed by Saint Louis Nov. 5.
The regular season ends at Palumbo Center with matches against George Washington on Nov. 7, La Salle on Nov. 12 and Charlotte on Nov. 14.
