Duquesne University freshman Meghan Smith (Chapel Hill, N.C./East Chapel Hill) was named the Atlantic 10 Women's Swimming Rookie of the Week for the week ending Dec. 5. It is her second Rookie of the Week honor this season.

Smith set a school record in the 200-yard butterfly Sunday at the Akron Invitational, winning the 41-swimmer event with a time of 2:03.20. She also claimed a second place finish of 63 swimmers in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:06.06, placed fourth of 37 in the 400 IM in 4:28.58 and helped the Dukes place fourth of 24 teams in the 800-yard freestyle relay in 7:43.27.

The Red and Blue are finished with competition for the remainder of the fall semester and will travel to Pompano Beach, Fla. on Dec. 27 for a week of training during Christmas break.
