NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Coming off their most successful regular season in program history, the Duquesne volleyball team had four players named to the Atlantic 10 All-Conference team released on Thursday morning.
Additionally, head coach Steve Opperman was named Co-Coach of the Year.
Junior middle hitter Liz Homan was named First-Team All-Conference. The Celina, Ohio native finished second in the conference with a .367 hitting percentage and sixth in blocks with 0.90 per set.
Sophomore outside hitter Sara Scheirman was named Second-Team All-Conference. She finished with a team-high 330 kills which was fourth best in the conference.
Freshman Allison Foschia was named to the All-Rookie team. Foschia, who was A-10 Rookie of the Week on Sept. 21st, finished seventh in the conference with 320 kills, the most kills among A-10 freshmen.
Redshirt junior Nicole Wright was named to the All-Academic team. This is the second academic award the middle hitter has earned this season. She was also named to the 2010 ESPN Academic All-District 2 Women's Volleyball First-Team.
Opperman earns his third A-10 Co-Coach of the Year award. He set a personal Duquesne best with 22 wins this season - the most since the program was elevated to the Division I level in 1986.
The Dukes, who have earned a spot in the 2010 Atlantic 10 Championship for the first time since 2004, play Fordham Friday night at 7:30 p.m. at the Cintas Center on the campus of Xavier University,
