PRINCESS ANNE, Md. - Although mud and small ponds formed after several days of rain, the Division I Mid-Atlantic Region Championships went on as scheduled on the campus of the University of Maryland Eastern Shore hosted the NCAA on Saturday.
Competing in arguably the most difficult NCAA region, Duquesne has a program-best seventh place finish out of 27 teams, finishing with a total of 299 points. The Mid-Atlantic Region features five teams that are nationally ranked in the Top 15 (Villanova, Princeton, West Virginia, Penn State and Georgetown).
Katie Kelly placed 32nd overall with a time of 22:21, followed by Bethany Walker (29th/23:15), Sara Cimino (62nd/23:18), Emily Ballantyne (68th/23:29), Meg Ecker (78th/23:41), Danielle Werley (81st/23:44) and Meghan Van Houten (104th/24:06).
