Duquesne's men's and women's swimming teams wrapped up the dual meet portions of their schedules with victories over LaSalle Saturday afternoon at Towers Pool. The men won, 138-118 to finish the season at 6-2 while the women won, 136-123 to finish at 7-3.
It was the final home competition for seniors Mallory Marx, Christina Sherrard, Katrina Streiner and Anthony Herzog.
The men were victorious in all 14 of their races, including both relays. Sophomore Edward LeBlanc won the 200-yard freestyle, the 100 free and the 200 backstroke. Freshman Roman Becicka won the 1,000 free, the 500 free and the 200 IM. Junior Ian Walsh and sophomore Jim O'Hara each won two races with Walsh taking each breaststroke event and O'Hara winning the 50 free and the 100 butterfly. Other winners included sophomore Greg Matuszewski in the 100 backstroke and sophomore Dan Doyle in the 200 butterfly.
The women won nine of 14 events, including both relays. Sophomore Erin Sykes and freshman Monique Lefort each won two races. Sykes was victorious in the 500 and 1,000 freestyles while Lefort won the 200 free and 200 IM. Sophomore Kirstie Shumaker was triumphant in the 100 butterfly while seniors Sherrard and Streiner captured the other two wins with Sherrard taking the 100 free and Streiner taking the 50 free.
The Dukes will now begin preparations for the Atlantic 10 Championships to be held Feb. 18-21 in Buffalo.
