Volleyball Suffers First Loss of the Season

BALTIMORE - The Duquesne volleyball suffered is first loss of the 200 season after UMBC got by the Dukes in four sets.

Four Dukes shared the team-high with eight kills (Tricia Mullen, Jessica Artman, Brittany Poling and Liz Homan). Amy Palko had 13 digs and Chelsea Tillotson recorded 27 assists.

Duquesne fell behind early, dropping the first two sets 25-15 and 25-13 before rebounding to win the third set 25-22. The Retrievers proved to be too much as they took the fourth set 25-13 and the match 3-1.

A pair of Dukes were named to the all-tournament team in Artman and Homan.

The next stop for DU will be the University of Pittsburgh Sept.9 followed by a trip to Flagstaff, Ariz. for the Fiesta Bowl Classic Sept. 12-13.
