Duquesne University and AM NEWSTALK 1360 Reach Football Broadcast Agreement

July 23, 2008

PITTSBURGH - Director of Athletics Greg Amodio announced today that Duquesne University and AM NEWSTALK 1360 have reached an agreement that will secure AM 1360 as the radio home of Dukes football for the next two seasons.

"We are excited to further enhance our commitment to the football program with the announcement of our agreement with AM NEWSTALK 1360," said Amodio. "Having a presence on the radio dial is essential as we continue to expand our reach. The agreement with AM 1360 along with our previous online audio streaming relationship with Red Zone Media provides our fans with easily accessible platforms to follow Dukes football."

"We at AM 1360 are excited to have local college football back on the air," said Alan Serena, market manager and vice president of operations of Pittsburgh-based Renda Broadcasting Corporation. "We are honored to be selected as the flagship station for Duquesne football.

"The addition of DU football to our fall lineup will be exciting and will showcase many talented student athletes from our own backyard. This is a competitive college football program that deserves live coverage.

"AM 1360's 5,000 watt signal will be the conduit by which listeners throughout Western Pennsylvania can be a part of the continued growth and success of Duquesne University football," Serena added.

The radio agreement is one of many changes involving the football program that will be in effect this fall.

In January, Duquesne accepted an offer to join the Northeast Conference as an associate football-playing member. In conjunction with that announcement, the university adopted an athletics aid model that saw the granting of scholarships for the first time since 1950.

In addition, the football home of the Dukes - Rooney Field - is undergoing an extensive renovation that includes the construction of permanent grandstand seating, concession stands and rest rooms, the expansion of the seating area on the visitor's side of the field and the installation of a new Sportexe artificial playing surface.

Duquesne kicks off the 2008 season at Bucknell on Saturday, Sept. 6 at 6:00 p.m. DU's home - and Northeast Conference - opener is set for Saturday, Sept. 20 against Saint Francis, Pa.

Tickets for the 2008 season may be purchased by calling 412-232-DUKE (3853).
