Duquesne University head men's basketball coach Ron Everhart has accepted the resignation of assistant coach Kim Lewis. Lewis, a native of Angie, La., is expected to be named an assistant coach at Centenary College in Shreveport, La.
Lewis, a native of Angie, La., had been part of Everhart's staff for the past four seasons - two at Northeastern University in Boston and two at Duquesne.
"Kim has a chance to move closer to home and decided to make the most of the opportunity," said Everhart. "He grew up in Louisiana, played at Tulane and got his first coaching job at Xavier University in New Orleans. I respect and admire his professional decision to move closer to his family. I've known Kim since I recruited him at Tulane and there is no doubt in my mind that he will continue to be a highly successful coach."
Greg Gary, who was also a Duquesne assistant this past season, was named head coach at Centenary on April 11. Lewis and Gary were both recruited to Tulane by then-assistant coach Everhart in the early 1990s and were teamates for Perry Clark's Green Wave in 1990-91 and 1991-92.
