PITTSBURGH - Duquesne freshman Eric Evans (Detroit, Mich./Northwestern) has been named Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week for his performance in DU's two games last week.
Evans, who was also named A-10 co-Rookie of the Week on Nov. 23, joins St. Bonaventure's Andrew Nicholson - a three-time ROW - as the only multiple winner of the award this season.
The 5-11 guard shot .733 from the field (11-of-15) while averaging 14.5 points as DU split a pair of games. Evans hit 8-of-11 shots in scoring a game and career high 18 points in DU's loss to Old Dominion and followed that by scoring all 11 of his points in the second half of Duquesne's win over Rice on Saturday.
Evans is the tenth player in school history to win Rookie of the Week honors more than once in a season.
Evans, the Dukes' third-leading scorer at 9.5 points per game, also leads Duquesne's eight-man freshman class in minutes per game at 23.4.
Duquesne (6-4) returns to action on Monday, Dec. 22 at home against North Carolina Central (0-13). Tip time is 7:00 p.m.
