Duquesne University swimming coach David Sheets recently announced that Mitchell Smith (Johnstown, Pa./Bishop McCort) and Caitlin Zajko (Orefield, Pa./Parkland) have signed National Letters of Intent to attend Duquesne for the 2009-10 academic year.

Smith is a District 6/9 champion in the 100-yard backstroke and a District 6/9 runner-up in the 100-yard butterfly. A four-year letterman, he holds nine school records and finished 13th in the 100 backstroke at the state finals.

Zajko boasts state and district champion honors on her resume. She was the district 11 100 breaststroke champion in 2006-07 and was a member of the state champion medley relay team in 2005-06. Her team won the state championship in 2005-06 and was district champions in 2005-06 and 2005-07.
