PITTSBURGH - Duquesne freshman Nicole Wright was named Atlantic 10 Co-Rookie of the Week along with Lindsay Fletemier of Dayton. Wright was named to the all-tournament team at the Liberty Invitational this weekend as the Dukes won two of three matches.
Wright posted two double-doubles in three matches. She had 19 kills and 25 digs in a 3-2 season-opening victory over Evansville and in a 3-1 loss to Liberty, Wright tallied 12 kills and 16 digs. She finished the tournament with a team-high 39 kills.
Wright becomes the third Duke on the 2007 roster that has been named A-10 Rookie of the Week joining teammates Kristin Garnett (9/7/04 and 10/25/04) and Chelsea Tillotson (9/25/06, 10/9/06 and 11/6/06).
Duquesne returns to the court Friday at 7:00 p.m. against North Dakota State in the first day of the Courtyard by Marriott Invitational.
