PITTSBURGH - Stacie Pollock (Kennett Square, Pa./Unionville) and Kathleen McNish (Caldwell, N.J./James Caldwell) were named first team All-Atlantic 10 in a vote of league coaches. In addition, Courtney Tamasitis (Boyertown, Pa./ Boyertown) and Tyneshia Harris (Aliquippa, Pa./Sewickley Academy) were named second team All-Atlantic 10 and Sarah Cates (Columbia, Md./Mt. Hebron), Janna Faulkner (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) and Meghan Frederick (Cockeysville, Md./Dulaney) were named to the conference rookie team. Keri Drexel (Pequea, Pa./Penn Manor) and McNish were named to the Atlantic 10 Academic All-Conference team.
Pollock, who was All-Conference in 2005 and second team All-Atlantic 10 last season, led the A-10 in caused turnovers (37) and ground balls (50). She ranked 10th and 19th nationally in caused turnovers and ground balls per game respectively.
McNish, the 2007 team captain, led the A-10 in both assists (43) and points (74) and was ranked sixth in the NCAA in assists per game (2.53) and 16th in points per game (4.35). She broke a single-game school record with seven assists and tied the single-game school record with 11 points vs. Robert Morris. She was named to the A-10 rookie squad last season.
Tamasitis, one of the most decorated student-athletes in DU lacrosse history, was tied for third on the Dukes with 25 goals this season. Her 83 shots were a team-best and a career-high. Last season, she was on the 2006 A-10 All-Academic team as well as an A-10 Honorable Mention.
Harris, who set career-highs with 26 ground balls and 20 caused turnovers this season, has moved into 13th place on DU's career caused turnover list with 43 .
Cates, who was tied for third on the Dukes with 25 goals, won the A-10 Rookie of the Week award twice this season. She became the first DU freshman to be honored two times in a season since Kelly Mulford in 2003.
Frederick's 37 points was tied for second best among A-10 rookies. She started all 17 games for the Dukes and was second in the team with 26 goals and 11 assists. She was the A-10 Rookie of the Week April 9.
Faulkner, the A-10 Rookie of the Week March 12, was one of five Dukes to surpass the 20-goal mark this season. Her six assists was third-best on the team.
Drexel, who has a 3.71 GPA in secondary education/English, had a team-high 34 draw controls that was fifth-best in the A-10. Her 12 turnovers were second-best among the attack position for Duquesne.
