Seven Sign NLI's For Duquesne Women's Swimming

Duquesne University seventh year women's swimming coach David Sheets recently announced that Erin Cawley (Galloway, N.J./Holy Spirit), Morgan Claycomb (Sioux Falls, S.D./Lincoln), Kathryn Hare (West Chester, Ohio/Lakota West), Hannah Kondrotas (Barre, Mass./Gardner), Monique Lefort (Cut Off, La./Vandebilt Catholic), Amanda McClelland (The Woodlands, Texas/ The Woodlands) and DeAnn Pertz (Titusville, Pa./Titusville) have signed National Letters of Intent to attend Duquesne for the 2008-09 academic year.

Cawley joins the Dukes as a two-time first team All-Cape Atlantic League honoree in the 100 butterfly, a second team All-South Jersey choice in the 100 backstroke and a first team All-South Jersey Non-Public selection in the 100 butterfly. In addition, she holds her school's records in the 100 butterfly and 100 freestyle.

Claycomb is a member of the 12-time state champion SnowFox Swim Team. She is a state champion in the backstroke and butterfly events, the state record holder in the backstroke and has been a sectional qualifier every year since 2002.

Hare is a state qualifier in the 50 freestyle, finishing 14th as a sophomore. She was also a state qualifier as a freshman in the 200 free relay and is a section qualifier in the 50 and 100 yard freestyles. In addition, she is a school record holder in the 200 free relay and a GMC champion in the 50 free.

Kondrotas hails from Gardner High School, winners of 13 straight state championships. She was a state champion herself in the 500-yard freestyle and was a NCSA Junior National qualifier in the 400 individual medley.

Lefort is a two-time All-American in the 100 butterfly and an All-American in the 100 breaststroke. The 2006 Swimmer of the Year is a four-time state champion in the 100 butterfly, a three-time state champion in the 100 breaststroke and holds six school records and one division record.

McClelland comes to Duquesne from The Woodlands, Texas where her team was state runners-up in 2007 as well as district and regional champions. She is among the top swimmers on the team in several events this season including third in the 50 freestyle.

Pertz brings numerous accolades to The Bluff, including district champion and district co-MVP. A state qualifier and holder of five school records, she has earned 11 varsity letters and is a state qualifier in three sports, including swimming, cross country and track.
