CHARLOTTE -- Duquesne fell to Charlotte Sunday afternoon 3-0 to fall to 10-13 overall and 2-6 in league play.
The 49ers jumped out to a 24-15 lead in game one and never relinquished any less than a three-point margin as they cruised to a 30-21 win.
Charlotte started out 6-0 in game two, but saw Duquesne chip away and tie the game at 22-22. Then consecutive kills by Charlotte's Jennifer Webb, Alma Arroyo and Eden Ramos prompted a three-point margin and a timeout by Duquesne. The Dukes closed to within two points, but Charlotte outlasted the Dukes to win the second game 30-26.
In game three, both teams competed early as the largest margin was five points, with Charlotte leading 13-8. The Dukes kept it close, getting the game tied at each point from 24 to 27, until the 49ers recorded a pair of kills and won on an attack error by the Dukes to close out the game 30-27 and the match 3-0.
The Dukes were led by Dana McLaughlin's 10 kills. She recorded a double-double, adding 15 digs. Kristin Garnett lead DU with 25 assists. Three other Dukes cracked double figures in digs, led by Amy Palko's 20. Nicole Wright had 11 and Katie Goss contributed 10 digs on the afternoon.
The Dukes return home Friday to take on #12 Dayton. The Flyers have just one loss on the season .
