Dukes Participate in the NCAA Pre-Nationals

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - Five runners from the women's cross country team participated in the 6k NCAA Pre-Nationals this weekend at the LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course on the campus of Indiana State University.

In the field of 235 runners, Samantha Howard finished 70th overall with a time of 21:26. She was followed by Emily Beahan (93rd overall, 21:42), Sara Cimino (194th, 23:10), Kate Szymaszek (204th, 23:28) and Carly Brickett (210th, 23:44).

As a team, the Dukes finished 29th in the 35-team race which included nationally ranked teams Colorado, Arizona State, Princeton and Illinois.

DU came in 10th in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association in the Mid-Atlantic Region pool for the week ending Oct. 14.

The Dukes will be heading to Philadelphia for the Atlantic 10 Championship on Nov. 27th.
