Junior Samantha Howard (Moon Twp., Pa./Moon) took first out of 66 competitors with her personal-best time of 18:01 at the Schenley course to lead the Duquesne Dukes to a first place finish at this morning's Duquesne Duals. In all, five Dukes crossed in the top 10 en route to the 6-0 record as junior Amy Ruffolo (Wexford, Pa./North Allegheny) finished third - 18:40; sophomore Emily Beahan (East Earl, Pa./Garden Spot) was fifth - 19:03; junior Jenna Daggett (Bradford, Pa./Bradford) crossed eighth - 19:25; and freshman Sara Cimino (Cockeysville, Md./Dulaney) took ninth in her Duquesne debut with a time of 19:26.

The Duals felt the effects of Tropical Storm Ernesto with a rain-soaked sloppy 5K course with temperatures in the high 50's.

The Dukes return to action Friday, September 15, at the National Catholic Championships at Notre Dame.
