DUQUESNE WELCOMES SAINT LOUIS
Duquesne (3-19, 1-10), coming off a 76-52 loss at Temple on Saturday, returns home from a two-game road trip to host first-year Atlantic 10 member Saint Louis (12- 10, 6-4) on Wednesday, Feb. 15 at 7:05 p.m. (KQV-AM 1410 / www.RedZoneMedia.com). The game will be televised back to Saint Louis as part of the Billikens' TV package. Duquesne, which is 2-10 at home, is looking to snap a four-game losing streak and secure its first Palumbo Center win since a 90-61 victory over The Citadel on Dec. 20. Saint Louis, picked to finish 13th in a preseason poll of Atlantic 10 coaches and media, began the week in fifth place. The Billikens, which are 3-7 on the road, are coming off a 46-44 loss at Dayton on Saturday. The loss snapped a three-game SLU win streak. The Saint Louis starting freshman backcourt of Tommie Liddell (10.7 ppg.) and Kevin Lisch (10.0 ppg.) has combined to earn A-10 Rookie of the Week honors six times (four for Liddell and two for Lisch).
DUKES AND BILLIKENS
This is the first meeting between Duquesne and first year Atlantic 10 member Saint Louis since Dec. 29, 1956 when the No. 5 (AP) Dukes defeated the Billikens 69-62 in the consolation game of the Bluegrass Tournament at Louisville, Ky. ... Duquesne, which also owns a win at Saint Louis in December 1934 and a victory at Pittsburgh in December of 1937 leads the series 3- 0 ... this is the Billikens' first Steel City appearance since a Jan. 5, 1959 game at Pitt.
DUQUESNE LATELY
- Senior guard Bryant McAllister has tied school records in two of his last three outings ... the 6-3 Pittsburgh native posted his first career double-double with 16 points and a school record-tying 12 assists vs. Fordham on Feb. 4 and followed that by tying the 17-year-old school mark for 3-pointers in a game with eight (in 13 attempts) at Rhode Island on Feb. 8 ... McAllister's 36 points at URI were the most by a DU player since current Toronto Raptors guard Mike James scored 36 at Xavier in 1996 ... McAllister leads the A- 10 in scoring (19.3 ppg.) and is second in assists per game at 4.76 ... only two players in league history have led the league in both categories in the same season (Marques Green of St. Bonaventure in 2003 and Shawnta Rogers of George Washington in 1999) ... McAllister enters the Saint Louis game 11th on Duquesne's alltime leading scorer's list with 1,438 points ... he needs 22 to pass Rick Suder and move into the No. 10 spot
- Duquesne has been dressing nine players for the A-10 season
- Senior Keith Gayden has come off the bench to play the last four games with his sprained his left (shooting) wrist heavily taped ... Gayden injured the wrist when he tripped while running up a flight of stairs in the Student Union on Feb. 1.
TEMPLE LEFTOVERS
Leftovers from Saturday's 76-52 loss at Temple ... Temple, which outrebounded Duquesne 33-25, committed just five turnovers ... the Owls made Duquesne pay for their 14 miscues by outscoring the Dukes 21-4 in points off turnovers ... Temple shot 56.1 percent ... Duquesne hit a season high-tying 10 3-pointers for the third time in its last four games (10- of-26, 38.5%), but shot just 39.1 percent overall for the game ... the Dukes assisted on 15 of their 18 field goals ... Bryant McAllister went 13-of-24 (54.2%) from the 3-point arc during the two-game road trip (school record-tying 8- of-13 at Rhode Island and 5-of-11 at Temple) ... Ronnie Thomas hit 2-of-3 3-point attempts in adding eight points off the bench ... Chauncey Duke was 3-of-6 from the arc in adding 13 points for DU ... Temple outscored Duquesne 36-14 in the paint ... the Owls went just 3-of-12 from the foul line ... TU outscored DU by the same margin, 38-26, in each half.
