Three Dukes Win A-10 Swimming Awards

Duquesne University swimmers senior Eric Bugby (Easton, PA/Notre Dame HS), sophomore Katrina Streiner (Monroeville, PA/Gateway) and freshman Ian P. Walsh (Tobyhanna, PA/Pucoma Mountain West) have been named Atlantic 10 Performers and Rookie of the Week for the week ending Dec. 3.

Bugby won six races and set five school records as the Dukes finished second of eight teams at the Akron Invitational, Dec. 1-3. He set individual school records in the 50 freestyle, the 100 backstroke, the 100 butterfly and the 200 butterfly while helping the Red and Blue win the 200 medley relay in school record time.

Streiner won the 50-yard freestyle with a Duquesne season-best time of 23.77, finished second in the 100 free with a season-best time of 52.15 and placed third in the 100 butterfly with a Duquesne season-best time of 58.10. She also helped the Dukes place second and set a school record in the 400 free relay with a time of 3:30.93 and helped the Dukes place second in the 200 free relay with a Duquesne season-best time of 1:36.54.

Ian P. Walsh


Walsh won the 100-yard breaststroke with a personal and Duquesne season-best time of 58.23 and finished fifth of 29 swimmers in the 200 breast with a Duquesne season-best time of 2:10.76. He also helped the Dukes win the 200 medley relay.

The Dukes are off until Dec. 27 when they head to Ft. Lauderdale, FL for 11 days of holiday training at the CSCAA Swim Coaches Forum.
