Everhart to Miss Duquesne's Game at Boston College

Dec. 26, 2006

Duquesne University Director of Athletics Greg Amodio has announced that head men's basketball coach Ron Everhart will miss Duquesne's game at Boston College on Thursday as he recovers from a gastrointestinal issue discovered yesterday.

Everhart admitted himself to UPMC Passavant Hospital early Monday afternoon with abdominal pain and remained there overnight. He is currently being treated with antibiotics and is expected to be hospitalized for the next 4-5 days.

"I have been with Ron off-and-on for the past 24 hours," said Amodio. "Ron is in good spirits and is focused on getting well. We hope to have him back on the bench very soon."

Assistant coaches Kim Lewis, Richard Pitino and Daryn Freedman will share head coaching duties in Everhart's absence.

Duquesne, which has been off since a 72-71 win at Saint Francis, Pa. on Dec. 22, is scheduled to leave for Boston College on Wednesday afternoon for Thursday night's game.

The Dukes open the Atlantic 10 season on Jan. 3 at Saint Joseph's.
