Youth Leads Dukes at NCAA XC Regionals

The Duquesne women's cross country team placed 14th overall in the 28-team field at the 2006 NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regionals Saturday at Lock Haven. Sophomore Emily Beahan paced the Red & Blue crossing 38th overall in the 195 competitors. She posted a time of 21:53.4 in the 6k event.

Youth led the Dukes as freshmen Sara Cimino and Katie Kelly finished second and third for the Dukes respectively. Cimino finished 86th overall with a time of 22:42.0 while Kelly was 100th with a time of 22:54.9. Also scoring for Duquesne was junior Kate Szymaszek at 115th, junior Jenna Daggett at 126th, freshman Carly Brickett at 142nd and senior Jessica Brickett at 152. In all four of DU's top seven were underclassmen, leaving a good taste of what is to come in the future for the Red & Blue's cross country program.
