Duquesne University Head Volleyball Coach Steve Opperman has signed outside hitter Jessica Artman (Westlake, Ohio/Magnificat) and setter Chelsea Tillotson (Adrian, Mich./Tecumseh) to National Letters of Intent for the 2006-07 season.
Artman, a 5-10 outside hitter, let her Magnificat team to a 23-5 record as a senior and to the District and Regional Championships from 2003 to 2005. A three year letterwinner, Artman was named the 2004 and 2005 Offensive Player of the Year and earned first team All-District 2 honors. She was a second team all-district pick in 2004. A 2005 All-Ohio selection, she played for Cleveland Volleyball Club for nine years. She received the Ohio High School Volleyball Coaches Association Award for Scholastic Achievement and was the sports editor for the yearbook. She plans to major in physical therapy.
Tillotson, a 6-0 setter, led her Tecumseh squad to the SEC White Division title this past season and was tabbed the MVP of the Addison Tournament. An all-county, all-region and all-conference pick, Tillotson lettered three years in volleyball and was listed as of the best players in Michigan by Ohiohsvb.com the past two seasons. She competed for the Premier M-Juniors volleyball club and was a member of the Student Council, 4-H and SADD. She is looking to be a business major.
