Women's Lacrosse Earns Nat'l Ranking

The Duquesne University women's lacrosse team has broken into the Top 20 ranking of womenslacrosse.com after sweeping Atlantic 10 foes Richmond and George Washington this past weekend. The Dukes make their debut in the poll this week ranked 20th by "Bert & Ernie" on the website dedicated solely to women's lacrosse.

The Dukes enter the week 8-2 overall, 3-0 in Atlantic 10 action and are riding a six-game winning streak. They host UC-Davis in a non-conference bout this Friday before taking on the Massachusetts Minutewomen in an A-10 match-up Sunday afternoon on Rooney Field.

Duquesne ranks 13th in the NCAA allowing just 7.7 opponent goals per game and stand 20th in scoring margin (2.4) and the team's .800 winning percentage stands sixth in the country.

Individually, senior midfielder Ginger Flocco (Plymouth Meeting, Pa./Plymouth-Whitemarsh) was named to the womenslacrosse.com weekly honor roll after posting seven goals, three assists, 12 draw controls, four caused turnovers and six groundballs this week. She netted four goals vs. Richmond and three vs. the Colonials. Flocco leads DU with 30 goals, 12 assists and 42 points. She is 14th in the NCAA in points per game (4.2); 15th in goals per game (3.0) and 17th in caused turnovers per game (2.0).

This is the first ranking for Duquesne since the sports inception in 1997.
