April 12, 2005

Duquesne University's Sarah Pacini has been named an Atlantic 10 Women's Lacrosse Co-Player of the Week as announced by the Conference office. Pacini, a senior goalkeeper from Baldwinsville, N.Y., earns her first weekly accolade after leading the Dukes to a 2-0 mark in A-10 play last week.

Pacini had six saves and five groundballs in the Dukes' 11-9 victory at Richmond April 8 and posted 13 saves in Duquesne's 9-8 overtime win at George Washington April 10 as they handed the Colonials their first league loss of the season. Pacini had seven saves in the second half and stopped one shot in the OT period versus GW to secure the victory. She also scooped up six groundballs against the Colonials. Pacini has played each minute in goal this season and leads the Atlantic 10 with her 7.52 goals against average and is second with a .565 saves percentage.

In this week's NCAA statistical report, Pacini ranks 11th among Division I leaders in saves percentage (.565) and is 12th in goals against average (7.52).

Duquesne stands 8-2 overall, 3-0 in Atlantic 10 play. The Dukes are riding a six-game winning streak and host UC-Davis (April 15) and Massachusetts (April 17) this weekend on Rooney Field.
