Two Duquesne University men's basketball players received awards at Tuesday evening's Atlantic 10 Reception at Paul Brown Stadium in Cincinnati. Junior Bryant McAllister was named to the Atlantic 10 All-Conference Second Team as voted on by the league's coaches while sophomore Kieron Achara was named the Chris Daniels Most Improved Player of the Year as well as being named to the All-Academic Team.
McAllister leads the Dukes with a 16.0 points per game scoring average. The two-time Atlantic 10 co-Player of the Week has started all 29 games this season and has scored in double digits in 25 contests. He scored a career-high 30 points versus UMBC on Dec. 11 and became Duquesne's 30th member of the 1,000-point club when he tallied 12 points at Fordham on March 2.
Achara saw time in 29 games last year for the Dukes and averaged 6.0 points and 3.7 rebounds. This season, he improved those numbers to 11.5 points and a team-best 6.6 rebounds a game with a team-best 46 blocked shots. The Stirling, Scotland native was also named to the All-Academic Team as voted on by the league's SID's. The International Business major boasts a 3.59 cumulative grade point average.
