Diana Wuebker Named All-Academic

Duquesne University's Diana Wuebker (St. Henry, Ohio/St. Henry) has been named a 2005 ESPN The Magazine First Team District 2 Women's Volleyball Academic All-America honoree. She is one of just 13 Division I student-athletes from Pennsylvania, Delaware, the District of Columbia, Maryland, New Jersey and West Virginia to be selected. Wuebker will now be listed on the National Team ballot which will be released on Nov. 30.

Wuebker, a senior middle hitter, boasts a 3.59 cumulative grade point average in elementary education. She was tabbed a 2004 Atlantic 10 Academic All-Conference selection and has been named to the Dean's List, Director of Athletics' and A-10 Commissioner's Honor Rolls.

Wuebker is a three-time All-Atlantic 10 selection and has the distinction of being one of just five Duquesne volleyball players to record 1,000 career kills and 1,000 career digs. She stands second for the Dukes with 3.14 kills, 2.99 digs and 0.94 blocks per game this season and leads the team with 355 points and a .282 (283-83-708) hitting percentage. She is ninth in the A-10 in points and 10th in hitting percentage.

Wuebker is the sixth Duquesne student-athlete to be named an ESPN the Magazine District 2 Academic All-American for the 2005-06 academic year.

To be eligible for the Academic All-America award, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore at their institution, be a starter or important reserve and have at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.00 scale).

The Academic All-America volleyball teams are the third of 12 that will be selected this academic year.
