Morrow receives A-10 postgraduate scholarship

June 15, 2004

Duquesne University's Sarah Morrow (Baytown, Texas/Robert E. Lee), a senior member of the volleyball team, was named one of four 2003-04 Atlantic 10 postgraduate scholarship recipients by conference commissioner Linda Bruno.

The Atlantic 10 annually awards four postgraduate scholarships to student-athletes who express an interest in continuing their education. This year's other recipients are Cathy Joens of The George Washington University, Peter Tawczynski of the University of Massachusetts, and Erin Treadway of the University of Dayton. This is the eighth season that a total of four recipients have been selected.

"The Atlantic 10 is proud to be able to provide opportunities for its student-athletes to continue their educations," says Bruno. "These young women and men are perfect examples of what college athletics is all about - attaining academic and athletic excellence. We wish them all the best in their future endeavors."

The selection of Morrow gives Duquesne a league-high total of nine honorees since the postgraduate scholarship program's inception in 1990-91.

Morrow, who concluded her career by earning All-Conference honors, led the Dukes with 3.07 kills per game and was second on the squad with 23 aces and a digs per game average of 3.07. She was just one of three A-10 players to rank among the top 10 in both kills and digs. Just the fourth Duquesne player to record 1,000 kills (1,174) and digs (1,074) during her career, Morrow had 19 matches with double-figure kills and 17 with double-digit digs in 2003, including 12 matches in which she recorded a double-double. She finished her undergraduate studies with a 3.91 grade point average in sociology. She was on the Dean's List every semester while at Duquesne. Morrow is a member of several national honor societies and plans to pursue a law degree.
