Dukes' Flocco Named A-10 Player of the Week

Ginger Flocco (Plymouth Meeting, Pa./Plymouth-Whitemarsh), a junior midfielder, has been named the Atlantic 10 Lacrosse Player of the Week, marking her second weekly citation this season.

Flocco helped bolster the Dukes to a 3-0 mark on the week with wins over Denver, Temple and Monmouth. She hit the back of the cage four times and added two assists in the home opener vs. Denver, netting the game-winner in DU's 15-5 victory. Flocco had three goals and an assist as the Dukes took their first-ever win over Temple defeating the Owls 18-5 in the Atlantic 10 opener. The win snapped a 19-game Atlantic 10 winning streak for Temple, the defending A-10 champion and 2003 NCAA participant. Flocco had a break-out performance at Monmouth racking up a personal-best six goals (including the game-winner) as the Dukes took a 18-13 margin. She recorded a career-high five assists, which ties the Duquesne single-game mark, and her 11 points set a new DU record for points in a game. She also forced six opponent turnovers and grabbed four groundballs in the win.

On the week, Flocco recorded 13 goals on 15 shots and had eight assists for 21 points. She caused 10 turnovers; scooped up eight ground balls and won eight draws.

She leads Duquesne with 29 goals, 41 points, 24 draw controls, 19 groundballs and 16 caused turnovers. Flocco's 12 assists stand second on the team.

Duquesne, which is riding a five-game winning streak, is 6-2 overall and stands 1-0 in Atlantic 10 play. The Dukes next travel to St. Bonaventure this Saturday, March 26, for a 3:30 pm A-10 contest.
