Athens, Ohio - Duquesne University's lacrosse team opened the 2004 season with a 13-6 victory over Albany on Saturday at Ohio University's Pruitt Field.
Junior Ginger Flocco paced the Red and Blue with five goals. Fellow junior Laura App added two goals as did sophomore Krista Mann. Junior Sarah Pacini went the distance in goal for the win, stopping six Great Dane attempts to score. The Dukes outshot Albany 27-13.
The Dukes led 6-4 at halftime. Albany (0-2) closed within 9-6 midway through the final period, however Duquesne responded with four goals in a period of three minutes and 11 seconds late in the contest to seal the verdict.
Alexis DiDomenico led Albany with three goals.
The Dukes face Ohio U. Sunday, February 29th at 1:00 p.m.
