Pittsburgh, Pa. - Duquesne University's women's swimming team is headed to the Atlantic 10 Swimming and Diving Championships at the Flickinger Aquatics Center in Buffalo, N.Y. The three-day tournament begins on Thursday Feb. 19 at 10:30 a.m with the time trials. Duquesne finished in sixth place at the 2003 tournament; that equaled the best finish in school history.
The Dukes, who do not compete in the diving competition, are led by junior Deidre Rodeheaver (Danville, PA) and sophomore Amy Gersbach (Tabernacle, NJ). During this season, Rodeheaver set school records in the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard freestyle. Gersbach set four Duquesne records at last year's A-10 championship tournament.
Richmond has claimed the title the last two seasons. Also competing will be teams from Fordham, George Washington, La Salle, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, St. Bonaventure and Xavier.
