Duquesne University's Stephanie Hopkins (Tonawanda, N.Y./Sweet Home) has been named the Atlantic 10 Volleyball Player of the Week an announced by the league office.
The junior outside hitter hit .326 on the weekend leading Duquesne to a 1-1 record, an Atlantic 10 Championship berth and a 3-1 upset over top seeded Dayton on Nov. 13. Hopkins averaged 5.00 kills and 2.9 digs per game and collected a career-best 25 kills vs. the Flyers. She made just three hitting errors in that match for a .423 hitting percentage and added 14 digs for her 14th double-double on the season. Hopkins had a team-best 15 kills and nine digs in the 3-2 loss to No. 2 seed Xavier.
Hopkins leads the Dukes with 385 digs, which ranks sixth on the DU single-season list, and is second with 327 kills.
Duquesne ended the regular season 15-15 overall, 7-7 in the Atlantic 10.
The Dukes stand as the No. 4 seed and will face top-seeded Dayton on Friday, Nov. 19, at 5:00 pm in the opening round of the Atlantic 10 Volleyball Championship hosted by Duquesne at the Palumbo Center.
